2016 Honda Pioneer Sxs700 Owners Manual
Hi, First timer here. Bought a used Honda 2015 SXS 700 M2 Pioneer (first ATV/UTV). Will be used for a deer lease in south Alabama. Some dumb newb questions: 1. I want to purchase insurance, but I've got no idea where to start. My auto company doesn't insure ATV but has a flow through deal with Progressive.
I'd like to insure the Pioneer against theft (seems to be a real problem around here) and occupants against injury (liability), plus it would be nice to have some coverage if I have an accident while towing the thing. If I wreck it while riding in the woods I'll eat that. What companies have the forum users found to provide the most competitive product, and do I need more than I've described? This machine has 21 hours and 105 miles. What type of maintenance should I expect beyond the 20/100 hour maintenance intervals. This thing will not be going in water and be used for light trail riding/hunting/food plot hauling only.

It'll get dirty, but unless my 17 year old gets out of my sight never abused. Hello and welcome to the forum. Lots of great folks here and all are willing to help.
I have mine insured through Progressive. USAA doesn't insure them either so I had to go that way as well. IMO, I would take it to the Honda dealer and have them give it a good once over and check everything. Have them (or you) service it. Change ALL the fluids and spark plug. Get a good baseline for what's up with the machine.
If you can service it yourself then great but if you get a good report from the dealer then you will know that you're starting good from the outset. To me, it would take any guess work out of the equation. My owners manual calls for the next service at 600miles/100 hrs., I believe, as I recently passed the first service interval of 100miles/20hrs.
I could be wrong on the interval but I believe that's correct. Another good reason to take it to the dealer and get the right specs/service plan and go from there.
Congrats on the new machine. Hope you have many a mile of enjoyment from it. I don't have a SXS but I have several toys insured thru Progressive as well, I carry full coverage on all things, due to had something stolen once and left a bad taste.
I had ins thru Nationwide first, due to had my home property's and other street vehicles thru the, but MAN every yr they kept raising rates on the toys?? In 5 yrs they double there rates on me on an atv, went to progressive on the toys and they beat all price's by almost 50% insurance is one of them things ever so often you REALLY should price shop too many company's I think count on most folks being too lazy to do so and they gradually rape you in price increases! Little here little there, thinking most won't notice or care, but it adds up in time!! So call around, and compare same coverage to same coverage, and go with the best deal! Welcome to Forum slowplay, I have mine insured through American modern. Instead of going to an insurance agent you could talk to an insurance broker.
They do the shopping for you to get the best prices then they are the agent. I have four different companies through my broker to cover my insurance needs.
As for your maintenance you may want to try it yourself. The owners manual will have a maintenance schedule in it. The best practice is to keep all receipts and an hourly record of the maintenance performed for warranty and future resale. Enjoy your new Honda and make sure that 17 year old wears his helmet. Geico insured me, and all covered with 2 new quads it is $144 per year. ATV's are quoted there as motorcycle insurance.
Price depends on driver somewhat - I have had a motorcycle license for 35+ years, my wife doesn't have one. The difference was about $25/year. Also, I saved $7 per quad because I chain them up. I could save another $10 each if I parked them inside.
Geico motorcycle insurance is independent of car, homeowners, etc., and you can get an immediate quote online. I was covered the same day. I do have car insurance with Geico. Their service has been beyond excellent, and I had the opportunity to test this with a maximum intensity situation. 2017 hyundai tiburon maintenance manual.

My rates didn't even go up. As for the quad 20 hour service, checking the valve lash seems to be the messiest and most complicated part of the work.

You can find a service manual on this site, as well as a couple million pretty helpful folks. Paying the dealer sounds like a good option, except for me the line at the dealership is 6 weeks long for any service. The second dealership is worse. Be sure to check your turnaround as you make a decision. Thanks for the replies, all. I've got the insurance handled through Markel insurance for the first year. Turnaround on the 20 hour service is 10 days.
I've got very limited small motor mechanic skills (can change fluids, filters, cables and plugs, but that's about it) and would rather have somebody with actual skills/training look it over. I shopped around and it turns out $475 with the valve adjustment is actually competitive in my area of Georgia.
I guess I'll be looking at the same thing in about 80 hours, which I expect will take me through this hunting season. I can't see using it more than about 10 hours per month right now. Hopefully I can find somebody reputable in south central Alabama near hunt camp to maintain it more cost effectively.
