I wanted to get this item and I am sure it would have suited my needs perfectly.I am 60 years old and would have appreciated the safety that a smith like machine would have added to a workout. However, the trucking/freight company was well below sub par in its ability to keep freight safe during shipping, i.e, a freight company that cannot handle shipments of more than 2 lbs.(imagine that! And imagine that Walmart does not allow me to express myself as I am want to do even though it has asked for my opinion!). When I went to pick up the item I had been forewarned by the excellent people at the Walmart pickup (and I mean this sincerely, they were great in all ways) that there had been some damage. The boxes were all torn open (no telling what could have been missing.

Parts were all askew, scratched and dented. (I had wanted to add some colorful words about the trucking company and my backside, but, again, Walmart does not allow one to express themselves. The equipment arrived ahead of schedule. All the packaging and materials were in good condition.

Probably took me 5 hours to put together and another hour or two to unpackage and organize the materials for assembly. I used marker labeled styrofoam cups to organize all the pieces. I'm 245 lbs and everything holds me and my weights with no problem. With wd40 the guide rails and pulleys all work exactly how they should. Not the noisiest but could be quieter and could be smoother but is not bad for either.

It is not perfectly as smooth as gym quality BUT it is equally functional and smooth enough to not make it feel any different for performing the exercise. Excellent value. This and some item/ plan for cardio is all you need.

I'm 6'3' and the fly, leg extension, and hamstring curl are no problems for me. I can even do forced reps on my pullups by using the smith bar to step on while getting extra pullups in. I love this item and would recommend it to any home fitness enthusiast who is focused on function and not fancy (eventhough I think it looks great too). I'm a huge fan. Boxes were easy to handle and once we opened everything up, we saw that the packaging and lay-out of hardware was done with care and thought and the instructions were easy to follow. Took my wife and I only 4 hours to assemble. Though it does not have ball bearings on the smith machine, I sprayed the rails with some liquid graphite and they glide with ease. Pulleys are smooth and the pec attachment also received some graphite on the weight stack pole. This machine compliments my free weights, dumbbells and hip sled, ensuring that I can continue working out without leaving the house, and much safer for those of us getting up in age.
